We have been busy preparing for our school garden. In 5th class we are planting potatoes and sunflowers. Watch this space and hopefully we will have some lovely items in our area in a short while. We had a gardening expert called Kay in to help us.
Hooray!! Ms. Curran and Ms. Day's class won the attendance award for the month of April! We decided to use our prize to have a pizza party last Friday! There was loads of food and fun. Fingers crossed we will win again soon. Well done to all the boys and parents for having all our class in every day.
We are delighted in Rang 5 this week! Our school was awarded a Digital School of Distinction Award! The whole school have been working hard towards getting our distinction. Ms. Curran & Ms. Day's class were one of the three classes to be evaluated on our digital work. We had been involved in Photostory and have carried out two projects using this exciting software. Congratulations to all the pupils and teachers involved!!
Ms. Curran and Ms. Day's 5th class pupils have been very busy this term working on a "Photostory" project. It involved using new software on our laptops and working collaboratively together in groups. We had four groups and our topic was The Renaissance. At the end we presented the projects. This programme is part of our Digital School of Distinction award!
World Book Week was on last week and the children had a jam-packed week of activities. We had DEAR time every day in class and our class also are thoroughly enjoying reading our novel "Wonder." The highlight of the week for Ms. Curran and Ms. Day's class was participating in the Buddy Reading Scheme with the gorgeous Senior Infants in Holy Trinity School. All the boys enjoyed it so much and were delighted to receive a treat afterwards from Ms. Chadwick! We look forward to doing it again.
Big congratulations to Ms. Curran and Ms. Day's Rang 5 who won the attendance award for the month of February! Well done boys and keep up the good work attendance!!
Rang 5 were extremely lucky this term to have been chosen to participate in a Circus programme with Galway Community Circus! The 12 week training programme was an unbelievable opportunity for the children to learn new skills and gain confidence in areas they may never have experienced before. After the 12 weeks training, the boys had a showcase festival for our Christmas performance. Thank you to Galway Community Circus!
Ms. Curran's 5th Class went on a Seashore Safari on May 6th 2016. We went to Ballyloughane Beach in Renmore. A lady from the Marine Institute came with us to help us with our exploration of the Seashore Safari. We learned so much about our coastline and completed a project and class work based around it! Here are some pictures of our fun day out.
