The committee have started a fun initiative to get the whole school thinking more about how we can do so many things every day to help improve our earth. And it's pretty easy....we simply nominate students or staff who are spotted doing something "green". Callum in second class came up with our hashtag and we think it is really effective...well done Callum.
So get nominating everyone.... #EARTH!!!!!
Well done to Ms. Curran's 5th class who performed this multi-lingual song and reminded us that this world really is a very small one....
We've heard a lot of our fellow students commenting on the amount of homeless people they are seeing in town so we decided to host a Christmas Jumper Day in aid of Galway Simon Community. Even our teachers got into the spirit of the day by wearing Christmas jumpers. We searched under cushions and behind couches for all the coins we could find and managed to raise €200.00. So much fun and festive cheer was spread throughout the school and we were delighted that it was all for a great cause. Let's hope it helps a lot of homeless in Galway this Christmas.
Well done 2nd Class - they've been super troopers this week!!!! Keep on walking boys....
Well the 'No Homework' incentive seems to have increased the competitiveness of each class - and the success of the Golden Boot Award... Well done to everyone who's making the effort to walk at least part of the way to school. Really impressed with all your efforts and huge congrats to this months winning classes...
After reviewing the results of our Global Citizenship survey we discovered that a huge chunk of our student population had never been involved in a community clean up. While a lot of our classes clean the school grounds regularly we decided to brace the cold weather as a whole school and clean the school grounds and community. We even managed a few Mannequin Challenges along the way!!!
St. Michael's was one of Ireland's First Green Schools. We are continuing this tradition and have just been awarded our 9th Green Flag. This one related to Biodiversity.
