St. Michael's, and our partner school, The Holy Trinity, were among the first schools in the county to be awarded The Transport Maintenance Pennant today. This is a Green Schools initiative run in conjunction with An Taisce and The National Roads Authority. We were awarded the pennant to acknowledge a 22% increase in the number of boys walking to school. This increase would not have been possible without the dedication of the students and parents who still continue to use the Walking Bus from Ballybane Church every morning (weather permitting)! To acknowledge the incredible efforts of the students and parents a reception was held in The G Hotel today where Dylan and Alex accepted St. Michael's Travel Pennant and Award Certificate and all enjoyed scones, croissants and hot chocolates!!! We have no doubt that the Walking Bus will continue to be a huge success. We've also begun our Golden Boot Award again....hopefully we can increase the number of boys walking to school even more!
